Conference Room Lobby - The ARTHOUSE at Meath

We are thrilled to once again welcome the ARTHOUSE at Meath who will be exhibiting in the conference room just off the lobby. The ARTHOUSE is a social enterprise situated at the Meath Centre in Godalming. It offers adults with epilepsy, learning and physical disabilities the chance to work closely with professional artists to create artworks in printmaking and painting.

Artists of all abilities are involved in creating high quality art work which offers an insight to a way of seeing the world with humour and warmth and which will inspire us all.

The ARTHOUSE aims to give artists a sense of self-worth, develop pride and confidence by showing the possibilities of what can be achieved. Money from the work sold goes back into the project for further development and The ARTHOUSE artists all receive incentive payments.

Chris Knight Birds

An ever fluctuating flock of carved white plaster songbirds that come to roost in the dead and unwanted spaces of rooms, galleries and interior and exterior public spaces. Subtle and delicate they blend into the fabric of buildings, drawing the viewers eyes up from their usual focuses and reminding them that art doesn't have to be confined to picture hooks and plinths. Along with a beautiful recycled dove cote and ambient surrounding birdsong the flock of 100 plus birds will roost in the cafe area and throughout the Brighton Art Fair. Why not see if you can spot them all?

What the artists said about Brighton Art Fair 2007:

"Thanks again for a great art fair. It is my favourite fair for so many reasons, location, people, atmosphere, sales, quality of work and organisers, in no particular order. Look forward to doing it all over again next year"

"I just wanted to say thank you for organising Brighton Art Fair and that interest in my paintings prior to, during and afterwards has been incredible. I'm getting enquiries on a daily basis with some amazing opportunities. Best of luck with the Craft Fair and the next Brighton Art Fair"

"Really love doing BAF, meeting buyers is great. It is always well organised with a good atmosphere etc."

"Great show - thanks a lot!"

Entrance Lobby 2007 - Road Roller Prints

roller

On Monday 24th in the lane behind the Corn Exchange we printed  6 especially commissioned large prints by Helen Brown, Ann D'Arcy Hughes, Brenda Hartill, Bernard Lodge, Hugh Ribbans, & Jane Sampson.

As the prints were too large to fit in the press, we used a road roller to apply the required pressure. Printmaking as performance art!

Finished prints were displayed for sale in the BAF lobby during the show - along with photos of the printing.

What the artists said about past Art Fairs:

“very well organised event. Well done… go to top of the class”

“this fair is absolutely brilliant”

"I thought Brighton was excellent as you got a lot of people through the door (the right sort of people for me)" - Lin Osborn

"Brighton Art Fair was an excellent event, I sold 10 large paintings and walked away with a small fortune in my pocket, not to mention no stock left!" - Alexander Slatter

"I really enjoyed the whole experience, from talking to the visitors and meeting other artists. My sales and contacts that I made have been great. I'm looking forward to applying again." - Barbara Burns.

"Brighton Art Fair is the only art fair I do myself, the others I leave to galleries to do for me, that must say something! BAF is both relaxed and professional. In the two years I've shown I've sold a large volume of paintings with existing buyers returning and enthusiastic new buyers emerging. It's great to meet those buying your paintings too, from the serious collector to the impulsive first time buyer. I'd definitely recommend it" - Angela Charles
